5 Upcoming Toyota Cars in India 2021-2022 - Rumion to Hilux

Toyota is slated to launch quite a few cars both under the Toyota-Suzuki partnership as well as some new OG models.

Ever since the global partnership between Toyota and Suzuki, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Maruti-Suzuki India are sharing some models by rebadging and making a few tweaks on the design front. This strategy has started to show results, and Toyota has enjoyed quite the sales spur, especially with the Glanza.  To tap into this momentum, TKM is ready to launch a few more models. Some will be based on the Maruti Suzuki cars, while some others will be entirely new. Here we have listed 5 such upcoming Toyota Cars in India that we are highly hopeful will be seen on Indian roads:

The Rumion is based on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and it was recently launched for the South American market. The India-bound Rumion will feature a 1.5-liter petrol engine that will produce 105 Ps of power and 135 Nm of torque. It will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission. Prices are likely to start from Rs. 8.77 lakh (ex-showroom price, Delhi), and when launched it will rival the likes of the Mahindra Marazzo and Renault Triber.

Toyota Belta (Expected launch - end-2021)

The second car on our list of upcoming Toyota cars in India 2021-2022 is the Toyota Belta, which will be based on the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. It is likely to be launched by the end of 2021. When launched, the Belta is expected to be priced between Rs. 9.00 lacs - Rs. 12.00 lacs. It will be powered by the Maruti-sourced 1.5-litre petrol engine, the same as the Rumion. It will even belt out the same 105 PS of power and 135 Nm of torque, mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or 4-speed automatic transmission. When launched, the Toyota Belta will compete against heavy-weights like the Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna, Honda City, and the Skoda Rapid

Toyotas latest off-road SUV, the Land Cruiser LC300 is expected to launch by the end of 2021. The next-gen Land Cruiser is based on Toyotas new GA-F body platform, alongside a host of other features. There are two powertrains on offer with the LC300 -  A 415PS/650Nm 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol and a 309PS/700Nm 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel. Both the mills comes mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission engine option and will be offered in standard all-wheel drive. Toyota Yaris hatchback (Expected launch -  2022)

The Yaris badge was launched as a mid-size sedan back in April 2018. And in recent times, the global-spec Yaris hatchback has been spied many times on Indian roads. In fact, clear pictures of the test mule make us pretty confident that Toyota will launch the Yaris hatchback very soon. When launched, the Yaris hatchback will come with the option of three engines: 1.0-litre, 1.5-liter, and a 1.5-litre hybrid engine mated to either a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual or CVT transmission option. When launched the Yaris will compete against the likes of the Hyundai i20 and Volkswagen Polo. But with Glanza on sale, we cannot be sure about the launch date of the Yaris hatchback.

Toyota Hyryder (Expected launch - June 2022)

Toyota will also introduce EVs, and the Hyryder is a perfect example of that. This model is based on the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, but unlike the Maruti, the Toyota Hyryder will be powered by a battery that will give it a range of 200 km. The design has also been altered, for the front features a redesigned bumper, LED headlamps, revised air intake system, and a single-slat grille. If all goes well, then the Toyota Hyryder will be priced between Rs. 8.00 lakh - Rs. 12.00 lakh. This means it will compete against the Tata Nexon EV and the likes of it.

Toyota Hilux (Expected Launch Date- end-2021)

Last but not least on our list of upcoming Toyota cars in India 2021-2022 is the one that helped establish Toyotas reliable identity, the Hilux will finally be available in India. Although, India is not much of a pick-up truck country the recent demand for SUVs will surely create a space for such an iconic brand. Under the hood, the Toyota Hilux will come with a 2.4-litre diesel engine that puts out 150 Ps of power and 400 Nm of torque. Theres also a 2.8-litre diesel engine that produces 204 Ps of power and 500 Nm of torque. The transmission options are either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter. When launched, the Toyota Hilux will be the only pick-up truck alongside the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.
