Volkswagen India has launched its first-ever compact SUV, Taigun. It has gone on sale at an aggressive starting price of Rs 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model shares its platform with the Kushaq. The new model will lock horns with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Of course, it would even rival its own sibling, the Kushaq.
The Taigun is a made-for-India product underpinned by MQB-AO-IN platform. It has been designed and structured to give it a unique look and styling language. It comes equipped with LED headlamps, Infinity LED taillamps (first-in-its-segment), LED DRLs, and 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels among the few things that to the beauty of the car.

Volkswagen and Skoda have simultaneously worked in the development of Kushaq and Taigun. The Taigun, like the Kushaq, is available in two engine options- 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol that churn out 113 bhp of maximum power and 175 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a six-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmission. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre turbo petrol motor outputs 148 bhp of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a six-speed manual as standard and a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission.
VW offers a minimalistic theme inside the cabin. It carries a long list of features that includes automatic climate control, 10.1-inch infotainment screen, connected car tech, electric sunroof and complete digital cockpit, and more.

Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, VW India has revealed that the Taigun has bagged 12,221 bookings. Here is the full price list-
- Comfortline 1.0 TSI MT: Rs 10.50 lakh
- Highline 1.0 TSI MT: Rs 12.80 lakh
- Highline 1.0 TSI AT: Rs 14.09 lakh
- Topline 1.0 TSI MT: Rs 14.56 lakh
- Topline 1.0 TSI AT: Rs 15.90 lakh
- GT Line 1.5 TSI MT: Rs 14.99 lakh
- GT Line 1.5 TSI DSG: Rs 17.49 lakh
VW India is offering 4 years/1 lakh kilometre warranty as standard. Thi sis extendable up to 7 years/1.5 lakh km ALso, as per the company, the Taigun offers a service cost of as little as 37 paise/kilometre for 1.0-litre variants and 40 paise/kilometre for 1.5-litre variants.
