Volkswagen India has been releasing small teasers of its upcoming global sedan, the Virtus, ahead of its debut on March 8th. Now, the brand has teased the top-of-the-line VW Virtus GT. In India, the Virtus will replace the Vento, competing against the Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, and the upcoming Skoda Slavia.
Exterior and Interior Features
The Volkswagen Virtus will have an LED headlight with LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) and LED fog lamps, as seen in the latest teaser. The front fascia will have a thin chrome lining on the grille with GT badging, as well as chrome bars on the front and rear bumpers. The VW Virtus GT will also have chrome lining on the doorknobs. A shark-fin antenna, distant colour ORVM, dual-tone alloy wheels, and passive entry request sensors are among the additional exterior features.

With slight changes, the interior is believed to be inspired by the VW Taigun. Leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, ventilated seats, and other interior features will be available. The Virtus is expected to offer passengers a relaxing cabin environment as well as a variety of features for a good driving experience. The upcoming VW Virtus GT is expected to come standard with a 10-inch touchscreen system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The forthcoming sedan will also have automatic climate control, wireless charging, and Volkswagen Connect car tech.
Six airbags, electronic stability control (ESP), front and rear parking sensors, and rear video monitoring are expected to be included in Virtus' safety features.
Engine and Transmission
The Volkswagen Virtus will be powered by the same engines as the Taigun. One of the two engine options is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 114 bhp power and 178 Nm of torque. The other option is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 148 bhp power and 250 Nm of torque.

The 1.0L engine will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, while the 1.5L engine will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.
Launch and Price
The VW Virtus is ready to make its global debut on March 8, 2022. It is expected to cost between Rs 10.05 lakh and Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).
