Volkswagen Taigun is one of the safest SUVs in the country with a 5-star Global NCAP rating and is also raking in good numbers for VW. Keeping up with its increasing mass appeal, the brand has pushed the hype even further with the unveiling of the Taigun GT Plus Sport variant having numerous exterior and cabin updates coupled with a turbo-petrol engine. 1. Exterior Cosmetic Enhancements
The new variant while having the same design and styling still offers a fresh appeal to the Taigun. You get a Carbon Steel colored roof with dark chrome inserts on the outside. The front grill is now gloss black with a GT badging in red, black colored B-Pillars, dark chrome outside door garnish, and 17-inch Casio Black alloys with red brake calipers, and blacked-out ORVMs.
2. Interior Visual Add-ons
Insides of the Taigun GT Plus Sport variant gets a black interior theme with red accents spanning the entirety of the cabin. You get a glass black dashboard with red ambient lighting. Accentuating the darker profile are red stitches throughout the interiors. You get the red stitching on the steering wheel, and gear lever, and also with the black leather seat upholstery. On top of this, you get Aluminium pedals, black door handles, black sunglasses holder, and more.

3. Powertrain Options
In terms of mechanics, the GT line is always a notch-up than regular variants and has the heritage of performance-oriented mechanics. Here, you get 2 options for a turbocharged petrol engine. The first one is the 1.0 Litre TSI turbo petrol mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. It delivers a punchy power combination of 115PS power and a peak torque of 178 Nm, but is limited to the GT line edition. The engine option for the GT Plus Sport variant is a 1.5-litre TSI EVO turbo petrol unit that churns out 150 Ps power along with 250 Nm of max torque.
The launch is expected soon in the coming months. It will lock horns with the likes of Hyundai Creta N Line, Kia Seltos X-Line, and others.
Verdict
The GT trims are focused on the enthusiats in the market. While you get a more potent engine option with the SUV, sporty combination of red and black adds to the elevation of its performace oriented package. This is also the perfect time to showcase these variants when the Hyundai Creta N Line just made its debut at a starting price of Rs. 16.82 lakhs ex-showroom.
