Why Brands Like Skoda Are Preferring World Premiere Of Cars In India?

India is a developing country and here many foreign companies see potential. Sharing our deeds on the Auto Industry then carmakers like MG, Hyundai, Renault and now Skoda bring in new products and mark their world premiere in India.

So why India and is it really worth it? I'll share my opinions but before that make sure you are a member of our exclusive 91Wheels Telegram group where we bring you all the latest updates related to the Indian Automotive Industry.

One of the most prominent manufacturers in the Indian market, Skoda has announced that the world premiere of their mid-size SUV, Kushaq, will happen on March 18 in India. The Czech Republic carmaker will showcase the car to the world for the first time from India.

Please note that the Kushaq is originally originated from the Sanskrit word which means 'The King' or 'The Emperor'. The SUV will target the buyers of the already popular South Korean cousins that are Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

Skoda Kushaq is the same mid-size SUV that was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo as the Vision IN. In a sparkling orange shade, the SUV grabbed a lot of eyeballs with its exterior as well as interior design. However, the production model will look a tad bit different from what it was shown.

But the question still remains that why India? In one word then it is Growth. Being a developing country and with the second largest population in the world, it allows the carmaker to attract a wide amount of attention. Even in the pandemic, the carmakers showed growth in their sales and it shows how the Indian Auto Industry is evolving in time.

Sharing more details on the Kushaq then it will be only available in two engine options - a humble 1.0-litre TSI motor and a more powerful 1.5L TSI motor. The former is seen on the Rapid which makes 110 PS with a peak torque of 175 Nm. It is to be noted if the Kushaq will come in similar power figures or a little more. It continues with a 6-speed manual and a torque-converter for this engine.

As far as the bigger 1.5L TSI is concerned then it gets a 150 PS on tap with 250 Nm of peak torque. This similar engine is seen on the bigger Karoq and it is up to Skoda that if they will be bringing in a similarly specced engine.

As far as the prices go then it is not much known at this moment but we believe it is expected to start from Rs 9.79 lakh and going all the way up to Rs 15.69 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. In this price bracket, it will cater to the need of several buyers offering a safe product and also new features.
