Skoda Kodiaq Facelift Latest Update
Last Updated on 24th June'24:Exterior: In the upcoming second-generation version, the Skoda Kodiaq has become larger, with a stretched and sleeker design than before. The SUV now gets a new hexagonal grille with chrome surrounds, revised split all-LED headlamps, squared-off wheel arches, and a relatively more contoured design for the bonnet, door panels, and fenders. The SUV now also gets a floating design for the D-pillar and a wider rear profile with new slimmer C-shaped LED tail lamps and wide Skoda lettering.
Interior and features:Like before, the new upcoming Skoda Kodiaq second-generation model will continue its three-row seating configuration but will have a heavily revised layout for the dashboard. The most prominent changes are the new 13-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system and a new full-TFT instrument console with new ‘smart dials’. The centre console has rotary dials with TFT displays for three-zone automatic climate control and audio settings. Expect the Kodiaq to be equipped heavily with features like ADAS, seven airbags, ventilated and powered front seats with memory function, panoramic sunroof, wireless charger and leather upholstery.
Engine and transmission:The India-spec version of the second-generation Skoda Kodiaq will likely retain the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which also powers the current first-generation model and Superb sedan. To be offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, this engine generates healthy performance outputs – 190 PS of maximum power and 320 Nm of maximum torque. However, as an upgrade, Skoda might surprise us by bumping this engine's power and torque outputs. This petrol-automatic powertrain will be offered with a four-wheel drive system as standard.
Launch Time:Skoda is already testing the second-generation Kodiaq in undisguised form, which indicates that its test runs have entered the final stages. With the Kodiaq now seeming production-ready, expect the SUV to hit the showroom floors before the festive season – August-September 2024.
Rivals:The Skoda Kodiaq will continue to compete with other premium midsize monocoque SUVs like Jeep Meridian, Hyundai Tucson and Citroen C5 Aircross. It will also rival the more heavy-duty ladder-on-frame SUVs like Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster.
Price:With all the changes and updates it is set to receive, the new Skoda Kodiaq will become more expensive than what it is now. Given that the current version of Kodiaq retails for Rs 39.99 lakh, expect the updated version to be offered in the range of Rs 41-43 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
