Last Updated On 27th Jan'25: The Yamaha Lander XTZ 250 recently showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, marks Yamaha’s effort to bring its global dual-sport offerings to Indian riders. While the displayed model represents an older version, the Lander XTZ 250 remains a strong contender for India’s growing adventure motorcycle segment. Powered by a 249cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that produces 20 bhp and 20 Nm, the motorcycle combines off-road prowess with practical commuting capabilities. Yamaha India has not confirmed its launch yet, but if introduced, it could cater to adventure enthusiasts looking for a lightweight, versatile motorcycle.

Design: The Yamaha Lander XTZ 250 features a purposeful dual-sport design that combines practicality with rugged aesthetics. Its tall beak-style front mudguard and integrated LED headlight give it a distinctive off-road look while the high-mounted exhaust ensures better clearance during rough rides. The 13.5-litre fuel tank allows for extended journeys and the elevated single-piece seat provides ample comfort for both rider and pillion. 

Power and Performance: At the heart of the Lander XTZ 250 is a 249cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that delivers 20 bhp of power and 20 Nm of torque. Paired with a 5-speed gearbox, the engine provides a balanced mix of performance and reliability that makes it well-suited for off-road trails and daily commutes. The lightweight construction of 160 kg (kerb weight) ensures agile handling while the high ground clearance of over 230mm enhances its capability to navigate challenging terrains.

Features: The Yamaha Lander XTZ 250 is equipped with modern features to enhance the riding experience. The LCD instrument cluster offers essential information at a glance, including speed, fuel level and trip data. Additionally, the smartphone connectivity adds convenience for riders on the go. Also, its LED lighting system ensures clear visibility during night rides and the overall ergonomic design makes it comfortable for long-distance journeys.

Hardware: The Lander XTZ 250 features a robust suspension setup with telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock. The 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels are equipped with dual-purpose tyres for superior grip on both tarmac and dirt. For braking, disc brakes on both ends ensure reliable stopping power. On the other hand, the high-mounted components and durable construction make the bike ready for demanding adventures.

Launch and Price: Showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the Yamaha Lander XTZ 250 has yet to receive a confirmed launch date for the Indian market. If introduced, it is expected to be priced competitively within the Rs.1.70-1.90 lakh range (ex-showroom) that makes it an attractive option for dual-sport enthusiasts.

Rivals: The Yamaha Lander XTZ 250 is set to compete with other dual-sport motorcycles like the Kawasaki KLX 230 and Hero Xpulse 210. With its combination of off-road readiness, reliable performance and rugged design, the Lander XTZ 250 is positioned to carve a niche in the growing adventure segment.
