Hyundai has now shifted the launch date of Alcazar, its 7-seater SUV, towards 2021 May end. The highlighted reason was the rising cases of COVID-19 in India. Earlier, the launch was scheduled for April-end and the deliveries to soon start after a month.
The upcoming Alcazar from Hyundai is a 7-seater mid-size SUV that targets the buyers of Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the current-gen Mahindra XUV500. The seating layout of the Alcazar will comprise of both 6 and 7-seater option with the former coming with captain seats at the middle row.
Hyundai Alcazar gets the longest wheelbase in the segment measuring 2560 mm and also brings a good boot carrying capacity. The boot space measures 181-litre which is exceptionally good for a car of this size.

Design-wise, the Alcazar continues with the same front as the Creta, however, subtle changes at the grille design and the skid plate give it a different look. It is the side profile where we see the increased length and newer 18-inch alloy wheels which looks amazing. The rear profile gets wraparound taillights with Alcazar lettering and the skid plate to give it a sportier look.
Under the hood, the Alcazar continues with an updated 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor. This unit now generates 160 PS of power with a peak torque of 192 Nm. It is the same engine as we have seen in the Elantra and Tucson but this generates more power.
One can also get the oil burner which is the same unit as seen on the Creta. This 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, BS6 compliant turbocharged diesel unit delivers 115 PS of power with 250 Nm of peak torque. Hyundai says that because of the increased length and weight, the power distribution is well managed and this engine is well suited for Alcazar. Both the engines get a 6-speed manual as standard and an optional 6-speed torque converter unit.
Feature-wise, Hyundai Alcazar will get ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, LED headlights and taillights, air purifier, electrically adjustable driver's seat, ambient lighting, wireless charging, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with modern connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The prices of the Alcazar are not yet out, however, we expect it to start from Rs 11.50 lakh and the top model fetching till Rs 17 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. Like the Creta, the Alcazar too will bring in more sales to the South Korean carmaker.
