Toyota Fortuner is one of the most popular full-size SUVs in the Indian market. The Fortuner was first launched in India in the year 2009 and the second-generation Fortuner made its way to our Indian shores in 2016. The Fortuner enjoys a cult status and it has a great fan-following in India. Just a few months ago, the Japanese carmaker revealed the new Fortuner Facelift in Thailand. Now, the company has introduced the new 2021 Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo Facelift in the Indonesian market. So, let's have a closer look at it and is it coming soon to India?
As we have already mentioned before, just a few months ago Toyota unveiled the new Fortuner Facelift in Thailand. The Fortuner is sold in several Asian markets including India. While we are yet to get the new facelifted Fortuner, Toyota has introduced the sportier Fortuner TRD Sportivo Facelift in Indonesia. The new Fortuner Facelift looks very bold and macho and the TRD Sportivo edition is even more appealing. Talking about the changes, it gets subtle cosmetic updates that make it look more striking. It even gets new features and there are mechanical changes too.
One thing that I would like to mention beforehand is that the TRD Sportivo is based on the Fortuner Facelift and not the Fortuner Legender. The biggest changes in the TRD Sportivo are on the front fascia. At the front, the new facelifted TRD gets a sharper-looking profile with new LED headlights with projector set-up and daytime-running LEDs. It also gets revised bumpers which now look very aggressive and a new larger grille with mesh-pattern design and TRD badge. The Fortuner TRD Sportivo Facelift gets a lot of red and black accents that lend it a rough & tough and more sporty appeal.

Moving to the side, one can see it gets new 18-inch diamond-cut dual-tone alloy wheels. It also gets blacked-out ORVMs, side steps, roof rails and bold dual-tone TRD Sportivo stickers on the body panels. At the rear, it gets new LED detailing, TRD badge and blacked-out bumpers. Step inside the cabin and you will notice not much has changed on the inside. It gets an all-black theme for the dashboard. However, it gets a new large 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It also gets an updated 4.2-inch MID and rear-seat entertainment system, etc.
The Indonesian-spec 2021 Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo Facelift gets a 2.4-litre diesel engine that churns out just 150 PS of power and 400 Nm of peak torque. In comparison, the Fortuner Facelift gets an updated 2.8-litre diesel engine that churns out 204 PS of power and a whopping 500 Nm of torque. The India-spec model is likely to get the latter with updated power and torque figures. It will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic transmission with both 4X2 as well as 4X4 drivetrains. The Fortuner Facelift will also get a 2.7-litre petrol motor in the Indian market.
