Mahindra has taken the wraps off the Scorpio Classic and now the ARAI-certified fuel economy of the same is out. 2022 Mahindra Scorpio delivers 16.46 kmpl from the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel motor. This is the same diesel engine used in the base Z2 variant of the Scorpio N and Mahindra Thar.
This four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel motor belts out 128 bhp of power with a peak torque of 300 Nm. When compared with the older Scorpio, the peak torque is quite less but overall, when the fuel economy is compared, the newer version uses 14 percent of less fuel.
Also, the Indian carmaker claims that about 77 percent of the peak torque is observed from as low as 1000 RPM. This engine gets mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard and there is no automatic gearbox available as an option. The Scorpio Classic is also 55 kg lighter than the older model.
