The facelifted Maruti Baleno has been spied a couple of times on the internet and finally, some dealerships across India have started accepting bookings for the 2022 model. The newer version will compete with Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and Tata Altroz.
The production of the new 2022 Baleno has already commenced, and potential customers can book the premium hatchback for a sum of above Rs 11,000 at NEXA showrooms. Coming to the specifications of the car first then things will remain unchanged under the hood.
Maruti Baleno is offered with two engine options - 1.2L DualJet petrol and 1.2L petrol. The former generates 89bhp with mild-hybrid technology while the latter produces 82 bhp. The peak torque figures remain the same at 113 Nm for both engines. These petrol motors are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and get an optional CVT for 1.2L petrol. Reports also suggest that to cut down the costs, Maruti might replace the CVT with an AMT. If that's the case then Baleno will be the only premium hatchback in its segment that is offered with an AMT.

Even the bumper design is now new, the hood is flatter and the facelifted model looks wider than before.
Coming to the side profile then things remain unchanged except for the redesigned alloy wheels. The rear of the 2022 Baleno now gets restyled tailgate design and the new L-shaped tail lamps that now extend all the way to the tailgate.
On the inside, things are changed and the facelifted model is expected to get a bigger 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. New features like wireless phone charging along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are expected on the top-spec variants. We can also expect an all-new upholstery design on the Baleno. Tha two-tone colour scheme will surely give an airy feel inside the cabin.
