The new 2022 Maruti Baleno is all over the news with its first in the segment features and restyled design. Several spy shots of the top-spec variants have been spotted but this is the first-ever shot of the base Delta model of the 2022 Maruti Baleno. It is worth noting that Sigma was known as the base variant earlier in the Baleno, however, with the facelifted Baleno, Delta will be the newer base model that will be packed with loads of features.
As can be seen from the images, the base model gets equipped with chrome highlights on the grille and if you look closely, it also gets projector headlights. Since Baleno closely rivals the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz, projector headlights right from the base variant is a possibility since no other premium hatchback offers this as a feature.
This particular variant is also devoid of fog lights but this feature will be seen on the higher variants. Do expect faux skid plates at the front in the top-end trims that will give Baleno a sportier look. Moving to the sides, the Delta variant will get 15-inch steel wheels that won't get any wheel covers. Tata Altroz is another car that does not get wheel covers as standard in the base XE variant.

The base Delta variant of the Baleno facelift gets turn indicators on the ORVM and we do expect electrically adjustable function with them. The retractable function will be limited to the top-spec variants only.
At the rear, it does get the new L-shaped tail lamps design that extends all the way to the tailgate, however, the rear profile misses out on the chrome garnish that will be found in the higher variants. The LED taillights are standard for all variants. The rear profile carries subtle changes only that are limited to the taillight and bumper design mostly.
Feature-wise, we can expect the base variant, Delta, of the 2022 Maruti Baleno to be equipped with all four power windows, manual AC, remote central locking, manual IRVM, tilt-adjustable steering wheel, cabin lights and others.

Mechanically, Maruti Baleno will be powered by two engine options - a 1.2L DualJet motor and a 1.2L non-hybrid petrol. Both the motors generate a maximum torque of 113 Nm while the power figures stick to 89 bhp for the 1.2L DualJet and 82 bhp for the 1.2L non-hybrid engine. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, however, the non-hybrid do get a CVT as an option. Some reports also suggest that the new Baleno will ditch the CVT gearbox for an AMT one. This will lower the cost of owning the automatic version and also rival the competition strongly. However, this report is neither confirmed nor declined by the carmaker.
