Maruti launched the Grand Vitara a couple of weeks ago and it has already grabbed over 50,000 bookings so far. One of the advantages this mid-size SUV has over its rivals is the strong hybrid motor and even AWD with the 1.5L mild-hybrid motor. The excellent fuel economy of 27.97 kmpl is another advantage for those looking to travel long distances. These are some of the highlights of the SUV but the biggest fear for a new buyer is how much is the waiting period. In this article, we share the waiting period of the Maruti Grand Vitara for each variant and share with you how much you have to wait for this mid-size SUV.
Here's the waiting period
Variants | Waiting Period |
Sigma | 26-28 weeks |
Delta | 18-20 weeks |
Delta AT | 22-24 weeks |
Zeta | 10-12 weeks |
Zeta AT | 8-10 weeks |
Alpha | 8-10 weeks |
Alpha AWD | 8-10 weeks |
Alpha AT | 8-10 weeks |
Zeta Plus Strong Hybrid | 26-28 weeks |
Alpha Plus Strong Hybrid | 22-24 weeks |
As can be seen, the base variant, Sigma, that is offered with a 1.5L mild-hybrid motor gets a waiting period of 26-28 weeks. Similarly, the strong hybrid motor is made available in just two variants - Zeta Plus and Alpha Plus. The waiting period for the same sticks to 26 to 28 weeks and 22 to 24 weeks, respectively.
Mechanically, Grand Vitara is powered by two engine options - 1.5L mild-hybrid and 1.5L strong hybrid. The former is the same as seen in the XL6 as well. This four-cylinder, naturally aspirated motor belts out 102 bhp of power with a peak torque of 136.8 Nm.
This motor gets mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard and a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox as an option. Suzuki All-Grip AWD is limited with this motor only and that too with the stick shift.
The other motor, the 1.5L strong hybrid is the talking point of the SUV. This three-cylinder motor sourced from Toyota delivers an excellent fuel economy of 27.97 kmpl, which is the first in the segment. It churns out a peak power and torque of 114 bhp and 122 Nm, respectively and gets mated to eCVT unit.
