Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its new flagship product, the 2022 Grand Vitara mid-size SUV. It will be pitted against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, MG Astor and the Kia Seltos. Yes, it will be a lot similar to the Toyota Hyryder in terms of engineering and technology. While the company will showcase the SUV tomorrow, pricing might be revealed at a later stage. We also expect version wise details of the 2022 Maruti Nexa Grand Vitara Hybrid to be out tomorrow.
The Maruti Grand Vitara is an all-new product that has been developed jointly by both Toyota and Maruti. The highlight here is the availability of a strong or a proper hybrid unit that allows the SUV to be driven in EV mode only. Likewise, the Grand Vitara (along with the Hyryder) will be the only option in the segment to come with AWD or all-wheel drive as option. As expected, there will be no diesel engine on offer.
The Maruti Grand Vitara will get two petrol units. The first is the same 1.5 litre engine that powers the Brezza, XL6 and other Toyota / Maruti offerings. It will be sold with both manual as well as automatic transmissions. AWD will be available with this motor and SHVS mild hybrid will also be standard. The other engine will be a strong hybrid that enough battery capacity to power the car on EV mode only. This is a lot similar to what we see in the new Honda City Hybrid. Expect real world mileage to be over 22-25 kmpl for the strong hybrid versions.
Pricing could be something that the company might surprise us with the 2022 Maruti Nexa Grand Vitara Hybrid. The mild hybrid 1.5 manual could be priced under Rs 10 lakh with the top end strong hybrid automatic being positioned around the Rs 18 lakh mark, all prices being ex-showroom Delhi. Maruti will also ensure ample features in the form of segment's largest panoramic sunroof, as many as 6 airbags, 360 camera, HUD, ventilated seats, wireless charging etc. Stay tuned to this place tomorrow for more details!
