Toyota unveiled their upcoming SUV, Urban Cruiser Hyryder on July 1 and the bookings started from Rs 25,000 only. The latest reports on the internet reveal that the Hybrid version of the Hyryder is more popular, thanks to the excellent fuel economy.
Mechanically, Urban Cruiser Hyryder will be powered by two engine options - 1.5L mild hybrid and 1.5L strong hybrid. The latter is, a 1.5L TNGA motor that pumps out 91 bhp of power with a peak torque of 122 Nm while the electric motor produces peak power and torque of 78 bhp and 141 Nm respectively.
The useable power and peak torque stand at 114 bhp and 141 Nm respectively. This engine gets mated to eCVT unit and it only comes with a 2WD set-up. The certified fuel economy of this motor sticks to 27.97 kmpl which is the first in the segment.

The other and more affordable motor, the 1.5L mild-hybrid engine produces a peak power and torque of 102 bhp and 136.8 Nm, respectively. It gets mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and a 6-speed torque converter automatic as an option. This engine is available with FWD configuration as standard and AWD as an option.
Feature-wise, the Hyryder gets equipped with a panoramic sunroof, 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, cruise control, push-button start/stop, head-up display, ventilated cooled seats and more.

Once launched, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder will compete against the popular Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, MG Astor, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Nissan Kicks and the upcoming Maruti Grand Vitara. We expect the Urban Cruiser Hyryder to be priced from Rs 10.59 lakh to Rs 17.99 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
