KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- 2023 Hyundai i20 facelift spotted testing
- Already launched in global markets
- New alloy wheels, tweaked front and rear facia
The Hyundai i20 is one of the most popular premium hatchbacks in India. While it currently is in its 3rd gen, a mild facelift is on the way. Since it was launched in global markets a few weeks back, test mules of the same have been spotted testing in India. The front and rear profiles are under covers, but we can still make out some cues.
Let's look at the changes that it might be having on board this time.
Hyundai i20 Facelift Testing For India Launch
The facelifted i20 was launched Globally a few weeks back and now it has been spotted testing in India. Meanwhile, where we had the global images of the i20 out in public, this one is still under the front and rear end wraps for concealing its identity. But it still gets some changes.

The testing unit can be seen in the silver paint job, with black coverings at both ends. While they do not give away any changes, it is highly likely to continue with the same designing elements as the ones seen on the global version. However, the alloys are a complete disconnect from the global unit. This could be a country-specific revision, whereas the dimensions are not being tampered with.
Interior And Features - A Dashcam?
No detailed shots of the interior were captured but it is expected to bring a new revised cabin. Fresh upholstery and color themes are most probably some of the updates. However, the infotainment unit is being carried forward with this one.
However, there's this one little detail. It looks like a small screen unit is housed near the center rearview mirror. This could be the dashcam that Hyundai is now offering on the Venue N-Line and the upcoming Hyundai Exter. On top of this, we would love to see ventilated seats this time on the i20. Apart from this, the features list will almost remain the same.
Any Engine Update?
The powertrain will be carried forward from the existing i20. It will come with the same 1.2-liter naturally aspirated (83PS/114Nm) and 1-liter turbo-petrol (120PS/172Nm) engine options. While the former can be had with either a 5-speed MT or a CVT, the latter gets a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission) only.
VERDICT- The Indian unit will more or less be the same as the Global variant, but could have some India-specific changes. New alloy wheels and a factory-fitted dashcam are something that will excite the customers even more. It continues to rival the likes of Maruti Baleno and Tata Altroz.
