2023 Yamaha R15 V4 - Design
The design of the updated model is nearly identical to the old model R15 V4. The super sports design gets full fairing with aerodynamic elements. The bike gets a dual-LED DRL setup at the front with a single LED projector headlight. Additionally, the split seat setup remains unchanged with the sporty rider position. The rear end design is also identical with raised height. The updated model also uses the same alloy wheels as the old model. However, the new model gets a new matte-black colour option. Hence, the design of the updated model is unchanged.
Features
The main change is in the features list of the new bike. The standard digital instrument panel is now replaced with a colour TFT screen. Additionally, it gets LED turn indicators as opposed to the halogen units of the old model. Meanwhile, it also gets connected features like Bluetooth connectivity for smartphones. Other major features include LED lights, alloy wheels, traction control, etc. Rest of the bike is similar to the outgoing model.
Engine & Specifications
Yamaha has not changed the engine settings with the updated model as well. This means it keeps using the same 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This engine makes a peak power output of 18.1 bhp & 14.2 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, it gets Yamaha's patented VVA tech. Meanwhile, the gearbox used is a 6-speed unit with a slipper-assist clutch function. Both of the tyres are 17-inch machined alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. The front suspension is a USD fork unit while the rear is a monoshock. Both brakes are disc and use Brembo calipers for stopping the bike.
Price & Rivals
The new model of R15 V4 will be priced slightly higher than the old model. It is speculated to receive a price hike of Rs 5,000-8,000. However, the official prices of it will be revealed on the upcoming 13 February in India. Upon its debut, it will rival the KTM RC 125 directly.
Verdict: The new R15 has now become even more feature rich. The use of new tech will surely help new owners to enjoy the super sports bike more. Meanwhile, the price hike for the updates will only be minimal.
