KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- Mahindra XUV300 Facelift spied testing
- Mid-trim spotted without ADAS module
- Few segment-first features incoming
Mahindra is poised to expand its market share in the sub-4m compact SUV segment, not through Thar's base model, but rather with the XUV300 facelift. Previous spy shots have hinted at design changes, and the latest sighting reveals the mid-trim version undergoing testing without an ADAS module. Typically, vehicles incorporate ADAS modules on the roof, but Mahindra's design approach seems different, with previous XUV300 facelift test mules featuring a bulb on their windshields.
Let's look at the details that the new shots drop while on the move to zoom away from prying cameras.
Upcoming Mahindra XUV300 Facelift To Miss Out On ADAS?
This recent spotting of the mid-trim XUV300 facelift, lacking the characteristic roof bulb, suggests a deviation from the usual ADAS implementation. Currently, only Hyundai Venue offers an ADAS suite in the sub-4m SUV segment, and the upcoming Kia Sonet facelift is anticipated to feature similar advancements.

The photographed mid-trim test mule maintains an identical set of alloy wheels to the current XUV300, suggesting a consistent design. Despite being a mid-level trim, the lighting package appears comparable to top-spec models, featuring prominent C-shaped LED DRLs and vertically stacked headlights with a projector setup. Although fog lights aren't visibly separate, they might be integrated into the headlight assembly.
Examining the rear, the design mirrors the connected LED tail lights seen in top-spec model test mules. In profile, the mid-spec test mule appears unchanged from the current model.
Retain The Powertrain?
Powertrain options for the XUV300 facelift will likely retain the existing 1.2L 3-cyl turbo petrol and 1.5L 4-cyl turbo diesel engines. The petrol variants offer two tunes a 110 bhp, 200 Nm option with both 6MT and AMT, and a 129 bhp, 230 Nm variant with 6MT. The diesel engine remains the same with 115 bhp and 300 Nm, available in both 6MT and 6AMT options. Rumors suggest a new Aisin-sourced torque converter might replace the 6-speed AMT.
The launch is expected in 2024, with the facelift introducing several first-in-segment features.
Verdict
Mahindra has officially conveyed that 2023 has no new product launched in store. So, the facelift is poised to debut sometime in 2024, and that too, in the early months. This can be attributed to the fact that the recently launched Tata Nexon facelift happens to be one of its biggest rival, now comes with sizeable upgrades. Moreover, a few segment-first features are on the cards with this new launch as well.
