KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- Skoda Kylaq launched at Rs. 7.89 lakhs ex-showroom
- Comes with a sole 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine
- Misses out on some features when compared to Kia Sonet
Skoda finally entered the compact sub-4-meter segment with the much-awaited Skoda Kylaq making its debut with a competitive starting price point of Rs. 7.89 lakhs ex-showroom price directly rivaling the Kia Sonet SUV. Now, although the Kylaq is pretty well-equipped in terms of features, but there are some things that the Sonet offers over the Kylaq. This is exactly what we are covering in this section, but before that, make sure you are a part of our 91Wheels Whatsapp Channel, specifically curated for all the avid petrolheads to never miss out on any automotive updates.

1. ADAS
The Kia Sonet offers a safety advantage over the Skoda Kylaq with its Level-1 ADAS system. This system includes features like forward collision avoidance assist, lane keep assist, and driver attention warning, which are not available on the Kylaq. While Skoda is known for 5-star rated vehicles with a robust safety suit, this one too is expected to score an overall good safety rating, but this one feature is missing on the Kylaq.
2. Infotainment And Digital Display Screen Size
The Kia Sonet offers a dual-screen setup with two 10.25-inch displays for the infotainment system and digital driver's display. In contrast, the Skoda Kylaq features a 10-inch infotainment unit and an 8-inch digital driver's display. While the Sonet's larger digital driver's display offers better visibility, the Kylaq's infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. However, in practical life, both infotainment screens feel almost similar owing to their minimal size difference, but since I am talking about concrete facts, here we are.
3. Air Purifier
The Kia Sonet offers a dedicated air purifier with an AQI display, providing real-time air quality information and enhancing cabin air quality. In contrast, the Skoda Kylaq features an Air Care function with the climate control system, which performs a similar function but lacks the real-time air quality monitoring feature and also feels a bit lacking when compared to the Sonet's.
4. 360-Degree Camera
Another feature that the Kylaq misses out on is the 360-degree camera. The Kia Sonet offers a 360-degree camera system for enhanced visibility, while the Skoda Kylaq is equipped with just a simple rear parking camera, which is a bit of a miss on the part of Kylaq.

5. Front Parking Sensors
The Kia Sonet apart from offering rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and a blind-spot monitoring system, also offers front parking sensors that come in really handy while maneuvering through tight spots or when stuck in jam-packed traffic. This is something again that the Skoda Kylaq skips and would have been a great addition considering Indian driving conditions.
Verdict
There is no doubt that the Skoda puts forward a well-equipped car considering the overall package, however, as I always say, no car is perfect and that stays true for this one as well. While it misses out on some features when compared to its rivals, it is no doubt a well-designed SUV at a very competitive price.
