The Skoda Kylaq is a recent addition to the competitive sub-4-meter SUV segment. While it offers several compelling features, it also has certain areas where it surpasses its rivals. In this comparison, we'll focus on the advantages the Kylaq holds over the Mahindra XUV 3XO, but before that, make sure you are a part of our 91Wheels Whatsapp Channel, specifically curated for all the avid petrolheads to never miss out on any automotive updates.

1. Ventilated Seats
One of the essential features that take convenience to the next level is the ventilated seats don't take me wrong, this is a good additional feature, but considering the hot and scorching Indian summers, more vehicles should offer this feature for added convenience. While the Skoda Kylaq does offer ventilated seats, the Mahindra XUV 3XO misses out on this one.
2. Powered Seats
Another progression from the ventilated seats happens to be a feature again related to the front seats as well. The Skoda Kylaq offers a 6-way electrically adjustable driver and front passenger seat, a feature not commonly found in the sub-4m SUV segment. In comparison, the Mahindra XUV 3XO only offers manual height adjustment, and that too, just for the driver's seat.
3. Paddle Shifters
The Skoda Kodiaq is equipped with a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, which can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The automatic variant also features paddle shifters for improved driving control. In contrast, the Mahindra XUV 3XO offers a broader selection of engine and transmission choices, including turbo-petrol and diesel options with both manual and automatic gearboxes. However, unlike the Kodiaq, the XUV 3XO does not come with paddle shifters on any of its variants, something that could have added more control for the automatic 3XO trims.

4. Brake Disc Wiping Feature
Brake Disc Wiping feature generally called BDW feature is a safety feature that applies the brake pads on the disc at regular set intervals in heavy rains so that the water can be brushed off, resulting in effective braking even under heavy pouring. While the Skoda Kylaq offers it as a standard across trims, whereas again, as evident by this section's headline, the XUV 3XO doesn't.
5. Ambient Lighting
This feature is not functional, but on the feel-good side where the ambient lighting does uplifts the overall ambience of the cabin with its accent lights. While Skoda Kylaq offers it, likely reserved for higher trims, the XUV 3XO misses out on this one completely. However, I won't consider this a miss on the part of XUV 3XO, considering the fact that it offers a range of segment-first features, that are much higher in the hierarchy of needs and convenience list. But since we are talking about misfires on a comparison basis, here we are!
Verdict
Competitive landscape within the compact SUV space is very fierce and while you can do a thing right or wrong, the market size is pretty accomodating as well, where there seems to be space for everyone. However, if the Skoda Kylaq wants to be a major player in the segment, it has an uphil task of establishing its authority with the overall customer experience.
