Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z: Fuel Economy Of The Biggest Pulsar Revealed!
The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z sharing the powerplant with the Dominar 400 makes it a powerful proposition with enough grunt and power. The all-new Bajaj Pulsar NS400 muscles onto the scene with a time-tested heart. Built on a robust perimeter frame, it borrows the proven 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine from its sibling, the Dominar 400. This engine pumps out a healthy 40 hp and 35 Nm of torque, channeled through a smooth 6-speed transmission with a slipper clutch for added control with a 5-step adjustable lever. It clocks a top speed of 154 kmph. For an engine this big, the ARAI-certified mileage stands at 28.5 kmpl. Keeping in mind that this is a big engine, the figure sounds reasonable for the package.
Design And Hardware
In terms of the visual aesthetics, it features a sporty design philosophy. It comes with a distinctive LED projector headlight with bold DRLs and a robust appearance accentuated by the chunky 43mm USD suspension. Its side profile is dominated by a large fuel tank and extended tank shrouds. Bajaj has opted for a split seat setup, with the rear design reminiscent of the Pulsar NS 200 but with an evolved touch.
The NS400 boasts USD front fork with 43mm diameter tubes for precise handling. At the rear, a preload-adjustable mono-shock suspension handles the duties. You get 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in tubeless tires, and disc brakes with a 320mm disc up front and a 230mm disc at the rear.
Features
In terms of features, you get a pretty neat setup with all the bells and whistles. You get LED headlamps with LED blinkers and hazard lights, ride-by-wire electronic throttle, Bluetooth-enabled LCD instrument console with DOT-Matrix display featuring turn-by-turn navigation, USB charging port, 4 ride modes, music control, lap-timer, and more. In terms of safety, you get a switchable dual channel ABS, traction control system, front and rear disc brakes, hazard lights(a Pulsar first), and more.
Price And Delivery Timeline
The NS 400 Z is priced at Rs 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) for a limited time, targeting early birds. Available in a single variant, Bajaj offers it in four color options: Pewter Grey, Brooklyn Black, Metallic Pearl White, and Glossy Racing Red. The bookings are now underway with a deposit of Rs 5,000, and deliveries are set to commence in mid-June.
It rivals the likes of KTM 390 Duke, Apache RTR 310, Triumph Speed 400, and BMW G 310 R.
Verdict
With the biggest Pulsar ever, the mileage numbers revealed are well withinh reasonable limits. While the egine is potent enough, it consumes fuel that sits just right. However, since the performance oriented market keeps the efficiency on the back pedal, it sure does not dissapoints. However, the competition will now face tough heat from this iconic badging.
