BYD Sealion 7 Design: Anything But Boring
If you remember the BYS Seal sedan, you'll be quick to recognize that BYD Sealion 7 is based on the sedan itself with strikingly similar looks and some tweaks of its own. You get LED headlamps which will remind you of the sedan sibling and a sharp front bumper with a closed-off front grille and a sculpted bonnet that gives it a sharp and aggressive look.
The side look reveals that the coupe SUV is designed with large alloy wheels and squarish wheel arches with chunky cladding for that SUV character. While the side profile keeps it sporty, the rear is rather minimalistic with LED taillamps and indicators, a curved tailgate, and a creased-out lower bumper with skid plates to take any rugged beating.
Features: Futuristic And Plenty!
The BYD Sealion 7 will come in two variants: Premium and Performance. The Premium variant features rear-wheel drive, while the top-spec Performance model boasts all-wheel drive and a comprehensive list of features. Noteworthy highlights include a 15.6-inch infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, panoramic glass roof, ADAS, a 360-degree camera, digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, 11 airbags, premium 12-speaker sound system, and much more

Battery, Range, And Performance
The Sealion 7 offers two distinct powertrains: a rear-wheel-drive Premium variant and a performance-oriented all-wheel-drive model, aptly named the Performance. The Premium variant delivers 300 hp of power and 380 Nm of torque, propelling it from 0 to 100 km/h in a claimed 6.7 seconds. For those seeking exhilarating performance, the all-wheel-drive model unleashes 522 hp of power and 690 Nm of torque, achieving a 0-100 km/h sprint in an impressive 4.5 seconds. Both variants share an 82.56 kWh battery pack, but the rear-wheel-drive model boasts a slightly longer claimed range of 567 km compared to the all-wheel-drive model's 542 km on a single charge.
Verdict
BYD Sealion 7 looks pretty slick and promises a thrilling performance coupled with a good enough range. While everything seems to work in its favour, the price positioning will play a major role in its success rate. No doubt that this will come at a premium, but in a space that has quite a few options and significant competition from ICE powered vehicles, BYD will have to take steps very calculatively.
