Meanwhile, accomplishing the impossible; we're highly surprised and astonished with the Japanese technology. The Grand Vitara is not just fuel economical but also trustworthy. The SUV made it hassle-free to Mumbai without breaking a sweat. All thanks to the great suspension, silent cabin, & amazing ergonomics; Bunny was able to drive the car effortlessly throughout. Inching towards the destination i.e. Mumbai Airport; the Grand Vitara & team 91Wheels have completed 1300 km. Traffic is consistently notorious on the Vadodara-Mumbai highway. All thanks to the strong hybrid system, the displayed economy has reached 35.4 kmpl once again. Meanwhile, the fuel tank range stands at 139 km for now. Seems like we will make it to the destination but with a nail-biting competition with the fuel tank range. The car is showing 2 bars of fuel left. However, the strong hybrid might make up for the remaining distance easily. As seen in the photo above, the right front tyre has been replaced by the spare wheel. All thanks to a small mishap yesterday that led to the tyre bursting. However, Maruti Suzuki's service support is impeccable hence we got a spare tyre ready on the go in Vadodara today. The next update pours in at the 1400 km mark. Stay tuned.

Displayed Economy - 35.1 kmpl
Location - Entered Gujarat (Heading towards Modasa)
Day 2 of our epic hyper-milling test begins at 6:50 am at the Gujarat border. The stay for the night halt was at the Gujarat border; hence it was an easy task to cut through the check-post traffic. However, due to the oncoming elections in the state, the check post had a long queue of vehicles. Due to this, the displayed economy has now dropped to 35.1 kmpl. Meanwhile, the route we'll be taking shall lead us from Modasa. Team 91Wheels has not taken the Ahmedabad route due to its notorious traffic. Currently, the Grand Vitara is heading towards Modasa through the curvy beautiful hills of Gujarat. The temperature is also sub 15 degrees celsius hence the AC is also off. The next update is incoming at 900 km. Additionally, the Gujarat highways are toll-free for passenger cars. Team 91Wheels will be staying overnight at Ratanpur. The total distance left for Mumbai from the night stay is only 640 km. Additionally, the estimated fuel tank range is hovering around 884 km. A simple mathematical calculation suggests to us that it'll be a piece of cake for Grand Vitara to reach Mumbai tomorrow on a single fuel tank. However, things will clear only once we are near the outskirts of Mumbai. The team will begin day 2 tomorrow from Ratanpur at 6:00 am. Keep an eye out for the updates of day 2.

However, we've covered 700.5 km successfully during our 12h 30m drive from Delhi. The team is now aiming for a much-required night halt at Rattanpur (Rajasthan). The team is now crossed the traffic jam steadily. The roads now seem clear of traffic while aiming for the night halt. The next update comes at the night halt stay parking lot.

A simple maths sum tells us that the Grand Vitara shall easily make up to Mumbai on this single fuel tank if everything remains as planned. Meanwhile, Bunny is happily playing with the three different screens inside the cabin. The HUD is displaying the battery regen activity, the speedometer is set for the trip meter, and the infotainment screen is set for ECO-assist thus helping to generate more fuel economy. The SUV has now been running continuously for 6h 44m but a required break is planned soon. For tonight, the aim is set for resting up near Rajsthan & Gujarat border; just ahead of Udaipur. Time- 6:14 am
Delhi - Jaipur
Starting the first leg of the journey; the flag-off for this epic drive has been done at Dhaula Kuan, Delhi. The Grand Vitara has been filled up to its brim. As the weather is cool, the 1.5-lt, three-cylinder motor mixed with the strong hybrid system shall deliver us good economy. Additionally, the traffic density is helpful as we'll easily cross the densely populated areas before the peak traffic hours. The road route is via Rajasthan as it includes fewer elevations and hence generates more fuel economy from the SUV. Meanwhile, to record this epic drive, we've collaborated with the India Book of Records. The IBR will be documenting this epic mileage run throughout the journey. For now, Bunny is driving the car alone with the correct tyre pressure and slim to no additional weight inside the car. The average speed is oscillating between 65-70 kmph & the AC is off. The Grand Vitara is now heading towards the beautiful city of Jaipur to further bypass it and head towards Ajmer.
