Ford Sanand plant will soon become an EV manufacturing facility for Tata Motors. The EV plant will help achieve target sales of 2 lakh vehicles by 2026.
There have been reports all over the internet suggesting that Tata Motors is all set to acquire the Ford Sanand plant for some time now. As per the news reports over the internet, Tata Motors will be using this facility for their EV production.

According to the reports, Tata Motors has offered Rs 66 crores for the Sanand facility to Ford. This rate is 20% of the Jantri rate and the balance amount is suggested to be settled in terms of incentives from the government aimed for Ford until the year 2030. It is also being suggested that the government has accepted this offer.
Talking of the Sanand facility, it is designed to achieve a max production of 2.7 lakh engines per year. Tata Motors plans to invest an additional Rs 2,000 Crore to expand the production volume up to 3.9 lakh units per annum. This will help Tata to achieve their target sales of 2 lakh EVs by the year 2026.
In addition to this, Tata will retain Ford's staff for their facility. This means the 23,000 employees won't be left wandering for jobs; a commendable step from Tata. Although, one must note that Ford will still keep using a portion of the Sanand facility for their export production. This export includes the making of Panther engines.

Tata Motors total sales include 50 percent of the EV four-wheeler sales. The acquisition of the Sanand production facility will surely help the home-grown brand to set up concretely in the EV business globally. Tata recently showcased their CURVV EV SUV concept which is all set to make it to production by the next year. The Sanand facility will help establish Tata in the EV sector efficiently.
