Maruti Grand Vitara NCAP Crash Test Images Out: Looks Solid

A recently leaked image has been circulating online, showcasing an SUV during a side pole impact test. The side profile of the vehicle is clearly visible after the collision, revealing some bending in the doors, though the side pillars remain intacta reassuring indication of structural integrity. Notably, the side airbags have been deployed, which is vital for occupant safety in such scenarios. However, as these are unofficial images, we will need to wait for the official NCAP score to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Maruti Grand Vitara's safety performance.

Maruti has pledged 3 vehicles for the crash test ratings and the other two are Maruti Fronx and the Baleno. Also, previously, Maruti voluntarily submitted three vehicles for crash testing by BNCAP, and recent reports indicate that the automaker is poised to achieve its first 5-star safety rating. According to a report by Business Today in the past, the Maruti Baleno, Brezza, and Grand Vitara are all expected to receive a 5-star rating from BNCAP. These leaks align with the growing emphasis on safety among manufacturers and the increasing demand from consumers for safer vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara

The Maruti Grand Vitara stands out in Maruti Suzuki's lineup, offering both a naturally aspirated petrol engine and a strong hybrid option. The petrol variant features a 1.5L engine that produces 103 PS and delivers a peak torque of 136.8 Nm. The hybrid model utilizes a 1.5L 3-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor, generating 92.45 PS and a peak torque of 122 Nm. In its CNG version, power is reduced to 87.86 PS and torque to 121.5 Nm. Notably, the CNG option is available only with the Delta and Zeta variants, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Verdict

If the reports and images are accurate, Maruti is probably set to achieve its first full 5-star safety rating following the completion of crash tests. This milestone will not only enhance passenger safety but also mark the beginning of a new era for Maruti SUVs, reflecting a heightened commitment to safety standards across its lineup. However, there are a lot of spects to the safety standards and nothing concrete can be assumed before the official scores and the star ratings come out.
