Engine Specifications - ADV160 vs Aerox 155

Let's start with the Honda ADV160, the upcoming maxi-scooter, which features a 157cc 4-stroke engine that produces 15.78 bhp and 14.7 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the Yamaha Aerox 155 has the same 155cc 4-stroke, 4-valve engine, also used in the Yamaha R15 and MT-15. This engine here is detuned and puts out 15.0 ps and 13.9 Nm of torque. So, on paper, the ADV has more interesting numbers than the Aerox and seems like it will be more fun to ride.

Design Comparison - Honda ADV160 vs Yamaha Aerox 155

This is an interesting part, as their design makes a huge difference to their potential buyers. In India, what is seen is often sold, and from that perspective, the upcoming ADV160 appears much more appealing than the Aerox, because it has that big scooter stance. Additionally, from all angles, it appears to be a premium product. The long wind protection glass and dual LED headlights make it look quite handsome.

On the other hand, the Yamaha Aerox 155 is designed to match the performance level that aligns with Yamaha's legacy, and this maxi-scooter appears to be strictly made for the thrill of riding. To put it simply, it's cool to call this the R15 of scooters, as it carries the engine of that bike too. Additionally, it is only available in two color options - black and red.

Features comparison

For comfortable ride quality, Honda has used Showa suspensions at both the front and rear. It also gets a single-channel ABS along with front disc brakes, so it checks all your safety boxes. Additionally, every light on the ADV160 is LED, and for charging, Honda provides a USB socket. Other features include a digital tachometer, Honda H-Smart key, and 27 liters of under-seat storage.

Even Yamaha has added several features to their only maxi-scooter to justify the price tag. It comes with an all-LED setup for lights, a digital tachometer, VVA, Y-Connect app compatibility, and a traction control system. So, the Aerox 155 is also well-equipped.

Verdict

The competition here is tough, as both maxi-scooters are well-equipped and have strong engines that can easily exceed speeds of 100 km/h. The Honda ADV160 caters to almost everyone, as it is attractive, feature-loaded, and has a long stance, whereas the Aerox 155 leans more towards its sporty nature. Drawing strict parallels between them would be too early, as the ADV160 is an upcoming scooter, but from the photos, it looks like it will dominate the segment and create a lot of demand.
