Honda Elevate SUV - No Panoramic Sunroof?
Honda's absence in the mid-size SUV segment of India will soon get eliminated. The Elevate SUV will mark Honda's entrance with a new vision. The new Elevate is based on the Honda City platform but with a tweaked chassis. It will use a boxy design that mimics the global HR-V SUV. The front-end design will get a big chrome grille and LED headlights and LED DRLs. Similarly, its rear design will be similar to the global WR-V as well.
Additionally, the latest teaser image of the top shows that it won't get a panoramic sunroof. A small sunroof is visible in the teaser image. Also, the top gets a shark fin antenna as well as reclined C-pillars. The features list on it, however, will be decent. It is going to get a 10.25-inch touchscreen that is also seen in the recent update of the City. Also, we've seen the test mules using the ORVM camera; hence, a 360-degree parking camera will also find its way on it. Meanwhile, the possibility of it getting ADAS safety tech is still dicey.
Engine-wise, it will get the same 1.5-lt NA petrol unit of the City. But, it'll get a higher state of tune to make up for the additional body weight & size. Also, there will be no diesel engine option. The transmission will be an optional 6-speed MT or a CVT automatic. In the forthcoming future, we can expect it to get a strong-hybrid engine as well. Its main rivals in India are Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, & MG Astor.
Verdict
Honda is going to launch the Elevate in India on June 6. As it is expected to rival the mid-size segment of SUVs, we suspect that it'll be priced from Rs 11 lakh. However, the non-availability of diesel engine options might not appeal to some buyers. But, the brilliant 1.5-lt engine & its reliability are expected to do the trick for Honda in India.
