Hyundai Motors India has been working on an electric version of the Creta for some time now. The upcoming electric SUV has been spotted on the roads during the testing phase. The Creta EV is expected to get a similar design as its ICE counterpart, but it will get some EV-specific design elements. Hyundai Creta EV Design
After looking at the multiple spy shots that surfaced on the web, it is now very clear that the Creta EV will get a similar design to its ICE version. While retaining the overall silhouette, the SUV will get some EV-specific tweaks which might include an EV badging the back, aero-efficient wheels and a blanked-off front grille.
Things are expected to be the same as the ICE Creta inside the cabin too. Except a new steering wheel and a gear selector everything including a dual displays, dashboard layout and the centre console will remain the same which will resemble the Ioniq 5's cabin.
Hyundai Creta EV Powertrain
However, there is no official word available about the powetrain of the upcoming E-SUV. The Creta EV will expectedly get a 45 kWh battery pack, paired with an electric motor positioned on the front. As per reports, Creta EV will derive its powetrain setup from the Kona EV. In this case, the Creta EV will also generate 138 bhp of power and 255 Nm of torque.
The upcoming EV is expected to provide a driving range of up to 400 km on a solitary charge. We can also expect greater range in case Hyundai improves the powertain for better efficiency. Additionally, it will get up to 100 kWh DC charger which will top-up the battery pack in a 30-45 minutes.
Hyundai Creta EV: Expected Price and Rivals
The Hyundai Creta EV will probably hit the Indian roads by the early 2024. The electric SUV will land on Indian shores with a starting price tag of Rs. 15 lakh, going up to 17 lakh (ex-showroom). The Creta EV will compete with some popular E-SUVs such as the MG ZS EV and Tata Nexon EV.
