Hyundai Creta EV: Things To Know!
The Creta EV has been in development for a long time, and it is set to become Hyundai's first locally-manufactured electric car. Available in four variants, the Creta EV will be further differentiated into as many as 17 sub-variants, each one offering varying levels of equipment, performance and range, obviously.
Design-wise, the Creta EV retains the familiar shape of the regular Creta, banking on the success of its combustion-powered cousin. The front-end is nearly identical to the Creta N Line, if not for the fact that the grille is replaced by a blanked-out panel. The bumpers on both ends have been redesigned, and they come fitted with air flaps to aid cooling and aerodynamic performance.
The nose also features the charging panel hidden behind the Hyundai logo. The profile has been retained, and things remain familiar at the rear as well, with no changes to the tail lights or the tailgate. However, like most EVs in this segment, the Creta EV too comes with 17-inch aero alloy rims shod on low rolling resistance tyres.
There are two battery packs on offer; a 51.4kWh unit with a claimed range of 473km on a single charge, and a 42kWh unit with a claimed range of 390km. Hyundai has not mentioned specific charging times for either of the battery packs, but it says that the Creta EV can be charged from 10 to 80% in 58 minutes via DC charging, while a 11kW AC charger will take a claimed 4 hours for a 10-100% charge.
The interiors of the Creta EV are not going to differ too much from the combustion-engined Creta, featuring the same dashboard, and the 10.25-inch curved digital cluster and infotainment touch screen. However, the steering wheel looks similar to the one offered on Hyundai's more expensive cars sold overseas, and it also comes with a column-mounted selector stalk.
In terms of features, the Creta EV will get a digital key, one-pedal driving, panoramic sunroof, shift-by-wire, vehicle-to-load, and it is also likely to carry over level 2 ADAS, a Bose sound system, and ambient lighting among other things.

Verdict
The Creta EV has potential to become a runaway success, just like its combustion-powered alter ego, given how popular both the Creta nametag and Hyundai itself is. The Creta EV will compete against the Tata Curvv EV, Maruti e Vitara and the MG ZS EV when it gets launched.
