Hyundai Grand i10 Nios has been a huge success for the South Korean manufacturer and sales of both petrol and diesel models have been good. Now, new reports suggest that Hyundai has started taking bookings for the Grand i10 Nios CNG trim before its official launch.
As far as the prices of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG trim are concerned, it'll sit higher by Rs 83k (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the models. The trims available will be 1.2L petrol MT Magna or Sportz. Please note, the recently launched Hyundai Aura comes with company fitted CNG and goes with the 1.2-litre petrol MT 'S' trim.
The 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol motor produces 81 bhp on tap along with a maximum torque of 114 Nm. However, the power delivery for the CNG trim will go down by 10% and the prices for the same may vary by up to Rs 80k to Rs 90k.

Bringing in a much cleaner and an alternative fuel would be more affordable to own since the running costs go really down. Although Hyundai will upgrade the diesel engine to the newer BS6 emission norms, CNG has its own benefits.
Currently, the Grand i10 Nios competes with Maruti Suzuki Swift and the latter has greater sales than the Hyundai version. However, post April 2020, Maruti Suzuki will discontinue the sales of the oil burner and will only be sold in a sole petrol engine. This makes way for the Nios since it's readily available in all petrol, diesel and CNG trims.
Since the Nios is a successor to the already popular Grand i10, it is the former which contributed to a 40% sales over the latter. The predecessor is already on sale however, the top-spec trims are discontinued.

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios starts at a price of Rs 5.05 lakh and the top trim is available at an ex-showroom price of Rs 8.04 lakh. It readily competes with the likes of Tata Tiago, Ford Figo and Maruti Suzuki Swift. Out of all its competition, it is the Nios and Figo which will continue with the diesel engines post new emission norms.
In other news, like the 1.0L Aura, Hyundai will also launch the powerful turbo petrol in the Grand i10 Nios too. It will make the same 100 bhp on tap along with 172 Nm of peak torque. The engine is derived from the much popular compact SUV, Venue and we're hoping that the Nios turbo petrol will turn out to be one of the best powerful hatchbacks when it goes on sale.
