Hyundai Motor India registered a sale of more than 2,50,000 SUV units in 2021, with the Creta clocking a sale of more than 1,25,000 units
Hyundai Motor India Ltd., the country's second-largest-selling carmaker and largest exporter, today announced its leadership in the SUV market for the calendar year 2021. With this, the carmaker has been India's largest-selling SUV manufacturer for two years in a row.

Commenting on the SUV leadership position, Mr. Tarun Garg, Director (Sales, Marketing & Service), Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, Our passion and commitment to deliver the most exclusive products for customers has led to Hyundai becoming Indias most preferred SUV brand for two years in succession. With the addition of ALCAZAR to our line-up, Hyundai now has five stellar brands across a spectrum of diverse choices for customer delight. Our most loved brands CRETA and VENUE have continued to delight new age customers, offering them experiences that go beyond the realms of mobility and translate into lifetime memories. In 2021 we sold 2 52 586 SUV units in India, that is a testament to Hyundais strong legacy and DNA in the SUV space. Going forward, we will continue to deliver exciting new products with focus on Intelligent Technology, Innovation and Sustainability.

Last year, the second-generation Hyundai Creta retained its leadership crown in the SUV segment by registering a total sale of 125,437 units. In fact, the C-SUV has managed to sell over 215,000 copies since its launch in March 2020. It is noteworthy that the Creta has been one of the most popular offerings from the carmaker since its launch in 2015. Such has been the popularity of this model that it has clocked a cumulative sale of more than 6 lakh units between two generations.
With the Indian car buying lot displaying a great preference for SUVs, Hyundai India has offered SUVs in various segments. In all, the carmaker has sold over 8.34 lakh SUVs in the last 5 years. Out of this, the Hyundai Venue, which is a popular B-SUV, has recorded a sale of more than 2.60 lakh units since its launch in May 2019. Last year, the Venue recorded a sale of more than 1.08 lakh units, thereby outselling many of its adversaries. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Alcazar has sold over 17,700 copies since its launch in June 2021.
