In 2021, Maruti Suzuki was not able to launch many models in the market except the Swift facelift and the latest generation Celerio. However, the company is in plans to revamp its range and come up with some new models as well. In this article, we will talk about the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Alto that is expected to be launched sometime in 2022. This new version was recently spotted testing on the roads.
Kar DIY has uploaded a video on YouTube that showcases the latest generation Alto. The car spotted is completely wrapped in black but still, the front, rear and side profiles are visible. Due to its wrap, the upcoming updates on the car are not much visible. The upcoming 2022 Alto was spotted testing on the roads of Gurugram.
Maruti Suzuki has started manufacturing only petrol and CNG vehicles. Alto has always been a hit in the market, especially for hilly areas. The 800cc vehicle is capable of covering distances without any hassle. The upcoming one is expected to carry a revolutionary design language that looks quite aggressive than the existing one.

As seen in the video, it will come equipped with a new honeycomb front grille. The headlights look a bit bigger but the shape remains similar to the existing one. However, it is expected that the upcoming model will have better illumination. The front bumper is also tweaked a little to make it look better than before whereas just like before, the turn indicators find their place on the front fenders. Glancing at the rear profile of the car, it feels like the company has also updated its dimensions as the car looks a bit wider than before.
It comes equipped with newly designed square-shaped tail lights. The rear taillights might remind you of the Maruti 800. The rear bumper has also been redesigned with new reflectors mounted on the bottom edges.

There is a brake lamp on top of the rear windscreen as well. We also expect the brand to offer a rear wiper and rear spoiler with its top-spec trim.
If the company is planning to build the upcoming Alto on the latest Heartect platform, then the dimensions of the car will definitely change. The car will become more spacious with plenty of knee room, legroom and headroom, especially for the rear seat passengers. The car might share some specifications and features with the S-Presso that would also help the company in saving production costs.
The existing one available in the market is powered by a 796cc naturally aspirated petrol engine that can churn out 47bhp of maximum power and 69 Nm of peak torque that comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The same engine is also available in a CNG variant that reduces the power and torque figures by 41bhp and 60 Nm respectively.
The company has not yet revealed any details of the upcoming Alto 800 so the engine specifications might be the same or might be updated as well. The upcoming generation of Alto 800 will compete against the likes of Renault Kwid and Datsun Redi-Go.
