In the ongoing event in Cape Town, South Africa, Mahindra is taking the platform to drop major project details nearing their launch. While Mahindra Thar EV, and the Global Pik-Up concept unveiling marks the highlight of the event, there are some more revelations on similar lines. The first SUV from the Born Electric range of Mahindra, the Mahindra BE 05.
While the concept images went public in August 2022, it is coming to market in October 2025. While the BE 05 pictures have been revealed at the event, we take a closer look at them.
Mahindra BE 05: First Born Electric SUV From The Brand
Revealed in a top-down view, the BE 05 retains its upright hood with distinct creases, a design element reminiscent of the original concept. An intriguing detail is the uninterrupted gloss black strip on the hood, possibly concealing sizeable LED daytime running lights. You also get a big solid fixed glass roof that covers almost all of the top area, which is the first-ever for any Mahindra mover.

Additionally, the flush door handles from the XUV700 make their way into this SUV along with a muscular and sporty rear profile. The rear spoiler looks enticing with a raised mid-section which exudes a split spoiler impression from a distance.
Although no clear visuals of the interiors are available, expect them to align with the concept design with little tweaks here and there. A dual-screen display is probably placed along the dashboard as it is with the concept model. Meanwhile, the features are coming in good numbers, just like the Mahindra XUV700.
Powertrain: Electric And Peppy
The versatile INGLO platform supports various drivetrain configurations, encompassing front, rear, and all-wheel drive setups. Mahindra suggests that rear-wheel-drive iterations achieve up to 285PS in terms of performance. Moreover, their all-wheel-drive counterparts could potentially reach an impressive 394PS.
Based on Mahindra's EV-specific INGLO platform, the BE 05 is set to incorporate a 60 kWh battery pack, offering an impressive anticipated range of 450 kilometers. Notably, the vehicle boasts a remarkable 175 kW fast charging capability, enabling it to charge from 5 to 80 percent in just thirty minutes.
Mahindra BE 05: Price And Rivals
The price is expected to be around Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom) mark. Mahindra BE 05 rivals the MG ZS EV in the market. Nevertheless, it faces strong competition from upcoming contenders such as the Hyundai Creta EV.
