Mahindra Marazzo is the only affordable diesel MPV in the private as well as the commercial segment right now. With the discontinuation of diesel engines from the Maruti Suzuki, the Ertiga had to let go off with the oil burner. And now Marazzo has acquired the position of the cheapest diesel MPV in the Indian market. However, the sales of the same are not that good and now Mahindra is planning to launch a petrol BS6 model of the Marazzo.

Mahindra is planning to bring the 1.5-litre, turbocharged petrol engine. This motor will first come with Marazzo only. It generates as much as 161 bhp and a peak torque of 280 Nm. A 6-speed manual stick shift will be on offer and an optional automatic.

However, the spied image gives us the autoSHIFT monicker which is the same as used in the XUV300 diesel AMT models. Yes, the autoSHIFT comes with AMT technology and we are expecting the petrol to come with the same. Like the XUV300 AMT, this one too will come with creep function, down hill mode and among other functions.
Currently, the BS6 Marazzo is offered with a single 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel motor which makes as much as 121 bhp at 3500 RPM and a maximum torque of 300 Nm between 1750-2500 RPM. This unit is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

The prices of Mahindra Marazzo starts from Rs 11.25 lakh and go up till Rs 13.59 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. It is available in three variants - M2, M4 Plus and M6 Plus. It is being reported that this new BS6 petrol engine for the Marazzo will be priced lower than the current variant which will further cater to the need of more buyers.
