Mahindra Thar has always been known for being the most affordable 4X4 and the hardcore budget SUV. However, ever since the new Thar got launched, the waiting period has just soared to several months and now in a recent price update, Mahindra has increased the prices of the budget 4X4 SUV by a good margin.
The price hike for the Mahindra Thar start from as low as Rs 32,000 and go to Rs 92,000 for some of the variants. Like we said above, the waiting period of the Thar is close to 12 months for some cities and the production capacity has taken a hit due to the constrained supplies.

We currently have the three-door version of Thar in the market with two engine options - a 2.0L Stallion petrol and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel. The former generates 150 PS and 320 Nm while the oil burner churns out 130 PS and 300 Nm. Both the engines are mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and an optional 6-speed AT. Both the engines come with 4x4 as standard.
Another thing that stands out apart from the engine options or being the budget 4x4 then it is the safety. Yes, the new Thar has scored 4-stars in the Global NCAP rating proving it is one of the safest SUVs on the ladder on frame chassis. The prices of Mahindra Thar starts from Rs 12.12 lakh to Rs 14.17 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.

In other news, Mahindra is planning to bring in the five-door version of the Thar that is expected to come with 2WD too. The upcoming Thar is expected to launch in 2023 and features like push-button start/stop, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and more.
