Mahindra XUV300 is the safest compact SUV in the Indian market your money can buy right now. It is also one of the no-nonsense SUVs with a frugal diesel motor, decent features on the go and one of the most likeable AMTs when compared with rivals. However, it surely has its own niggles like the lack of boot space, dated interior layout and even the high pricing. Still, Mahindra keeps this model in line-up and the latest change is the revised alloy wheels in the XUV300.

Mechanically, the XUV300 is powered by two engine options - 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5L diesel motor. The 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol motor belts out 109 bhp of power on tap with a peak torque of 200 Nm. The oil burner makes a peak power and torque of 114 bhp and 300 Nm.
Both the engines are mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as a standard fitment and also get an AMT as an option. The ARAI certified mileage for the 1.2L petrol sticks to 17 kmpl while for the diesel it is 20 kmpl. It should be noted that both engines generate the highest torque in the segment.
