- The top-spec Alpha CNG could see a hike of Rs 1.06 lakh over the petrol version
- We can expect the launch of this model by this year-end
- Maruti will also launch its flagship SUV, Grand Vitara with CNG soon
Just a few weeks ago, Maruti launched Baleno CNG at a starting price of Rs 8.28 lakh for the Delta variant and Rs 9.21 lakh for the Zeta trim. All prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi. The CNG version of the Baleno is currently limited to the mid variants only, however, this could change in the coming times.
As per a leaked document, it states that Maruti might bring Baleno CNG with the top-spec trim, Alpha. If this happens then this will be the first Maruti model to be equipped with a factory-fitted CNG with the range-topping variant.
Currently, the Alpha 1.2L petrol is priced at Rs 9.10 lakh. If we add a premium of Rs 1.06 lakh for the CNG, the cost comes to Rs 10.16 lakh. All prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi. This can be an expensive affair considering the ex-showroom price of the car will be above Rs 10 lakh and it attracts additional taxes.

In CNG form, the 1.2L motor belts out 76 bhp of power with a peak torque of 98.5 Nm. This engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission and the ARAI-certified fuel economy of the same sticks to 30.61 km/kg. There is no AMT as an option for the CNG versions.

Verdict
We expect Maruti to launch the Baleno Alpha CNG soon in the Indian market. If this happens then not only Baleno is the sole premium hatchback to be available with CNG as an option but it also provides the environment-friendly gas option for the top-spec variant too.
