Maruti Cars With ADAS Tailor Made For Indian Roads In Development
While the more affordable segments have begun to offer ADAS in various models, Maruti is yet to introduce this feature in any of its cars. However, the delayed timeline for Maruti cars with ADAS has a reason behind it according to Maruti Suzuki. The official statement reads, "The unique traffic conditions and congestion make it difficult to simply apply Japanese solutions. Leveraging Suzuki's 40 years of experience in India, we plan to develop and offer ADAS that performs well even in the congested streets of Indian cities."
This statement makes a lot of sense and is actually a pretty commendable thing to do. The ADAS in ideal conditions is dependent on road etiquette proper sign boards and highway markings for features like lane assist and more. Going by this, the upcoming Maruti eVX could be the first Maruti vehicle in the country to offer ADAS when launched in 2025. That gives the automaker enough time to alter the system for an effective implementation.

Interestingly, in the past, the new-gen Swift before its official launch was spotted with ADAS radars and more assistive add-ons, hinting that once perfected, more affordable models could benefit from a mid-cycle update. This would also make the brand's renewed push for safer vehicles more robust and could also help in fetching a higher safety score in the Bharat NCAP safety ratings, something that is now climbing up in the position of the priority list of new buyers.
Keeping the current progress in mind, the Maruti eVX slated for launch in 2025 will probably be the first model from Maruti Suzuki with ADAS, and more models are likely to get this as well overtime.
Verdict
The ADAS, currently in development keeping the Indian conditions of roads and driving style in mind, would prove to be a game changer and increase the efficiency of the system. Meanwhile, the brand is focusing more on safety with the new launches and this will be a big boost to the safety quotient of vehicles going forward.
