Maruti Ciaz BS6 Prices Revealed: Ciaz S Variant Launched

Maruti Suzuki India has today announced their 11th offering in BS6 space of cars and it is the Ciaz this time. As other Marutis, this one is also powered by a petrol-only engine as the diesel has been discontinued. Maruti Nexa also launched a sporty S variant of the Ciaz. Continue below for the updated price list.

The prices of the BS6 Ciaz petrol stars from 8.31 lakhs for the Sigma MT and go all the way up to 11.09 lakhs for the Alpha AT. A detailed variant wise price breakup has been given below. However we don't understand the concept of Rs 10.06 lakh pricing for the S trim as the road tax slab changes at Rs 6 and Rs 10 lakh ex-showroom. If Maruti could have kept the price at Rs 9.99 lakh, or 7000 lower, customers would have had saved about Rs 25-30k due to a lower road tax slab.

The diesel variants which were powered by an in-house developed 1.5-litre DDIS 225 engine will be discontinued before April 2020. Maruti Suzuki might launch it later in BS6 guise according to prevailing market conditions and demand.

Coming to the interiors, the Ciaz S comes with sporty black interiors with silver accents on the door trims and some minor tweaks to the instrument panel with some sporty inserts. Rest of the mechanicals and features are exactly the same as the normal Ciaz. The Maruti Ciaz is now powered by a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 105 bhp and 138 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and 4-speed AT.

Maruti Ciaz has completed over 5 years of its success and it holds 29% of the market share. It competes with the likes of the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid, Toyota Yaris and VW Vento. Honda City and Toyota Yaris are the only cars in the segment which has been upgraded to BS6 compliance until now. Rest of the cars will be upgraded before April 2020
