Maruti Grand Vitara: New AVAS Pedestrian Safety Alarm and Price Increase
Maruti has announced that the strong-hybrid versions of the Grand Vitara SUV now have an Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS). The system emits a low-level sound that alerts pedestrians and nearby drivers about the car's presence, audible up to five feet away. The inclusion of AVAS ensures compliance with the required standards for quiet vehicles. While the Grand Vitara hybrid is the first to adopt this feature.
Due to this safety enhancement, the price of the Grand Vitara hybrid has increased by Rs 4,000. It now starts at Rs 18.29 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The prices for non-hybrid Grand Vitara models remain the same
Maruti Grand Vitara: Price, Variants, and Powertrain
The Maruti Grand Vitara is available in six variants: Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Zeta+, Alpha, and Alpha+. The SUV's price ranges from Rs. 10.70 Lakh to Rs. 19.90 Lakh, depending on the chosen variant. It offers two petrol powertrain options, both compliant with BS6 RDE standards. The first option is a 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology, producing 102bhp of power and 137Nm of torque. You can choose between a five-speed manual gearbox (AWD system available only with manual) or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The second powertrain is a strong-hybrid system, combining a 1.5-litre petrol engine generating 91bhp of power and 122Nm of torque with electric motors. This hybrid setup delivers a total power output of 114bhp and is paired with an e-CVT gearbox.
