The manufacturer had earlier announced that it will increase the price of its entire range of vehicles on April 6, due to a consistent rise in input costs. In its last hike in January, the company had hiked prices by 1.7% across all models. The pertinent rise in input costs was cited earlier as well, as the primary reason behind the hike.
Maruti Suzuki has not been the only manufacturer to have hiked prices this year. BMW India, Mahindra & Mahindra, Audi India, and Toyota have also increased the prices of their entire model. Even Hero Motocorp has hiked the prices of their motorcycle range. However, this has been standard practice in the automotive industry, where manufacturers increase the price of their car models, at the start of every financial and calendar year.
