For starters, the upcoming Maruti Jimny in India will be a five-door version and is expected to measure less than 4m in length. Globally, the SUV measures 3850 mm in length, 1645 mm in width and 1730 mm in height. Having said this, the Maruti Jimny will boast a boxy design language with prominent body cladding to give it a rugged look. The car will also get round headlamps, large alloy wheels, and many other notable exterior elements to give it an attractive look. The Jimny will be the only SUV of its kind with a proper 4X4 system in the compact SUV class.

Powering the Jimny will be the same 1.5-L K12B petrol engine that comes with Maruti's 12V SHVS mild-hybrid system. The same engine is seen on the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ciaz, Ertiga, XL6, and the S-Cross. This engine is expected to boast a maximum power output of 102 hp while the peak torque figures stand at 138 Nm. In India, this engine is offered with a five-speed manual gearbox and a four-speed automatic gearbox. Inside, the car is expected to get an all-black cabin with a large infotainment system, stylish steering wheel, steering mounted controls, automatic climate control, etc.
While the official launch timeline is still not known, the Maruti Jimny is expected to be launched in the country soon. Having said this, the car is expected to be priced from INR 9-10 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant. Once launched, the Jimny will directly lock its horns with the SUVs like Mahindra Thar and the Force Gurkha. It is also expected that the brand may also launch a three-door version of the SUV soon. Despite measuring less than 4m in length, the Jimny will not enjoy tax relaxations as the car is powered by a 1.5-L petrol engine.
