Original Article - September 1, 2020; We have often shared information about the aftermarket CNG options and told how this alternative fuel is not only environmental friendly to the mother earth but an affordable choice to the buyers too. In today's edition, we bring you 2020 Maruti Vitara Brezza which is again a popular SUV in its segment which sees an aftermarket CNG installation.
Currently, Maruti provides the 2020 Vitara Brezza with a petrol engine only and no CNG is seen on the SUV. This video showcases a Brezza with a manual transmission undergoing to a CNG transition.
The 2020 Maruti Brezza comes with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor which churns out 103 bhp and 138 Nm of peak torque. So we are expecting the power to be dropped to 90 bhp. Even though, if one has a daily running of more than 70 km then CNG works better. The petrol-powered Brezza with a manual gearbox gets an ARAI certified mileage of 17.03 km/l. With the CNG installation, the mileage can be expected to reach between 20 km/kg to 26 km/kg which is very economical.
In this video, they have used an advancer. Basically, this helps to reduce the lag which is seen on other CNG cars and with the help of it it gets reduced. So this advancer helps in keeping the performance of the SUV as that of a petrol-powered one.
Like the other CNG powered cars, they have also used a reducer which converts the high-pressure gas coming from the cylinder to the usable amount which the SUV will use. Then you see a clock which indicates the switch placed inside as to how much CNG is left in the tank and when to refill it again. The CNG switch is placed in the centre console between the USB and Aux points and the 12V socket.

One of the biggest drawbacks of installing a CNG to a petrol-powered car is the loss of boot space. However, in this case, the placement of the cylinder is done in such a way that allows the owner to carry small duffle bags or let's say small suitcases for a road trip. At the last, the owner of the vehicle who also owns a Baleno CNG shares his review about the driveability of his CNG Brezza. To him, the response is adequate and there is no lag from the engine or any problem with gear shifting.
Please note, installing aftermarket CNG on a new car not only hampers your company warranty but you also have to go through several changes in the RC. Like, you have to mention that your car is now powered by CNG. Also, the same goes for the insurance company when you file for a renewal. Installing this kit should be done with the help of professionals only.
