The new price hikes have finally made their way to the house of MG. MG India recently increased the prices of the Gloster by up to Rs. 1 lakh. After this price revision, now Gloster's prices start at Rs. 32.6 lahks and top out at Rs. 41.78 lakh ex-showroom. The new prices are between 1.43% and 2.45% higher than before in February 2023

Prices of the Gloster 2.0L turbo diesel are hiked by up to Rs. 60,000 and the Super 7S automatic variant received the biggest hike. This is something that we have seen with almost every car maker and MG jumped on the bandwagon too.

The prices of the Gloster 2.0L twin-turbo diesel are now higher by up to Rs. 1 lakh. The Gloster Savvy 7S 4x4 automatic variant saw a hike of Rs. 1 lakh.
MG Gloster Details.
The MG Gloster directly rivals the Toyota Fortuner and the Jeep Meridian. It is available in 2-engine options. A 2-liter Diesel generating 161 PS with 314 Nm of torque. And a 2.0 liter Twin Turbo Diesel mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission putting out 216 PS with 479 Nm of torque. It is available in a 4x4 variant also.
How Does It Fare With The Toyota Fortuner
The Toyota Fortuner comes with both petrol as well as a diesel powertrain. And the prices are on the higher side when compared to the MG Gloster. This is not surprising, given that Toyota always retailed at a premium to its rivals. Let,s look at the price chart of Fortuner.

VERDICT - The price hike of the MG Gloster is nothing surprising. Almost all the car makers have revised the retail tags of their line-up. Be it Maruti, Tata, Hyundai or Kia.With this, the Gloster will be a little heavier on your pockets. But compared to the Toyota Fortuner it is a cheaper option. The top model GR-S of Fortuner is almost 10 lakhs higher. But they both have their pros and cons and also separate fan bases.
