MG ZS EV Excite variant will soon come with a bigger 50.3 kWh battery. The homologated documents have leaked online hinting towards a longer driving range too.
Not long ago, the 2022 MG ZS EV was launched in the Indian market. With its value-for-money tag and long equipment list, the ZS EV has been a favorite among EV buyers. The new 2022 model added a long-range battery and new design updates. MG proposed the 2022 ZS with 2 variants - Excite & Exclusive but only launched the latter in India. Now, the news is that Excite variant will come with a bigger battery soon.
MG ZS EV Excite Variant Details
MG priced the base variant i.e. Excite at Rs 21.99 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The top variant Exclusive has launched already at Rs 25.88 lakh, while the Excite was retained from launch. This was done to notice the upcoming Tata Nexon EV Max back then; which was to feature a bigger battery. Ironically, Tata's claims rested peacefully with not-so-big updates in the EV Max.
To cater to the budget-oriented EV buyer, MG is now going to launch the Excite with a bigger 50.3 kWh battery. It is the same battery used in the Exclusive variant and promises a claimed driving range of up to 461 km/charge. This battery produces peak power of 174 hp and 280 Nm of peak torque.
This info has come into light as the homologation documents by MG were leaked online. Additionally, the documents claim 2 new variants to the Exclusive top-end trim. One of these is called Ivory. As far as we can calculate, the Ivory trim will allow the customers to choose a new interior theme that currently stands with only one option - Dary Grey.
To cope with the hefty competition faced by MG, Tata has also revised its standard Nexon EV. The new revisions have incarnated new features like the Cruise control, adjustable regen, etc. for the new owners. The new version is now badged as Tata Nexon EV Prime. Interestingly, the Excite variant is still Rs 3.7 lakh costlier than the Nexon EV but it makes more power, provides better and fast charging options, and has more driving range as well.
We believe that MG will soon launch the Excite variant in India. Upon its launch, tech like the ADAS will be offered as standard on the new EV.
