The new 2020 Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Facelift gets a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that churns out 105 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque. The engine comes coupled to a 5-speed manual as well as a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The automatic variants of the new Vitara Brezza petrol also get a mild-hybrid system. The BS6 Vitara Brezza Petrol Manual delivers 17.03 kmpl of mileage. While the BS6 Vitara Brezza's AT delivers class-leading 18.76 kmpl, which is the best in its class.
Hyundai Venue gets a bunch of engines. It gets a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated mill and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit. Venue's 1.2-litre petrol engine churns out 83 PS of power and 114 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox only. The naturally-aspirated petrol manual delivers 17.3 kmpl of mileage. It also gets a more powerful and more frugal 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
This 1.0-litre turbo petrol mill churns out 100 PS of power and 172 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed manual as well as a 7-speed DCT. The turbo petrol's manual version delivers 18.1 kmpl of mileage, which is the best in the segment. While the Venue's 1.0-litre turbo petrol with 7-speed DCT delivers 18 kmpl of mileage, which is also very respectable.
Next in the line, we have the Tata Nexon Facelift which recently got a power bump with the BS6 update. The Nexon Facelift is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It now churns out 120 PS of power (+ 10 PS compared to BS4) and 170 Nm of torque. It comes mated to both a 6-speed manual as well as a 6-speed AMT gearbox. The BS6 Nexon petrol manual delivers 17.4 kmpl of mileage while the AMT version returns 16 kmpl.
The next car in our list of most fuel-efficient BS6 compact SUVs in India is the Mahindra XUV 300. Mahindra recently entered the compact SUV segment of India with the XUV 300. It is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 110 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. The engine comes coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox only. The BS6 Mahindra XUV 300's petrol manual delivers 17 kmpl of mileage, which is good considering its torquey nature.

Lastly, we have a car which kick-started the compact SUV segment in India. The segment-creator Ford Ecosport was launched way back in 2013 and since then, it has a huge fan following. The BS6 Ford Ecosport is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine. It churns out 122 PS of power and 149 Nm of torque. The engine comes coupled to a 5-speed manual as well as a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The petrol manual delivers 15.9 kmpl while the petrol AT returns 14.7 kmpl of mileage.

Maruti Suzuki has ditched the diesel engine from the Vitara Brezza in the BS6 era and now it gets only a petrol engine. So, out of the five compact SUVs currently on sale in India, only four of them get a BS6-compliant oil-burner. Hyundai Venue is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that pumps out 100 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox only. The Venue's BS6 diesel manual delivers 23.3 kmpl of mileage, which is the best in its segment.
Tata Nexon is the only car in India to have three different powertrains. And, so you can also read about 2020 Tata Nexon Facelift Petrol vs Diesel vs Nexon Electric. The Nexon Facelift is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that churns out 110 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque. It comes coupled to a 6-speed manual as well as a 6-speed AMT gearbox. The next car on our list is the Ford Ecosport. Ford Ecosport is one of the most popular compact SUVs in India.
