NEXA is one of the best selling brands in the Indian market and offers premium Maruti Suzuki cars like the Baleno, Ciaz, S-Cross, and the Ignis. With fuel prices rocketing through the sky and CNG now being preferred as a practical alternative, we saw a number of carmakers expanding their CNG portfolio in the country and NEXA too is expected to offer factory-fitted CNG offerings in the Indian market. Here are all the details of the NEXA CNG cars in India that we know so far.
For starters, the brand is expected to offer Ciaz and the Baleno factory-fitted CNG options while it may also expand its CNG range in the future. Having said this, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz CNG is expected to get the same 1.5-L powertrain that we also get with the Ertiga CNG. In its CNG avatar, this motor boasts a peak power and torque output of 91 bhp and 122 Nm respectively while it comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This engine also boasts a claimed efficiency of over 26km/kg in the CNG mode.
The Baleno on the other hand is expected to share its powertrain with the newly introduced Maruti Dzire CNG. This 1.2-L Bi-fuel motor churns out 77 bhp while the peak torque output stands at 98.5 Nm. This engine too is available only with 5-speed manual gearbox. The brand is also expected to offer the same powertrain in the Maruti Ignis after a successful launch of the Baleno CNG.
While the official launch timeline of the NEXA CNG cars in India is yet to be known, we do expect Maruti to launch these in the coming months. The Indian carmaker is currently offering CNG iterations of many of its cars like the Alto, S-Presso, Celerio, WagonR, DZire, and the Ertiga. Tata on the other hand too introduced the Tiago CNG and the Tigor CNG in the Indian market
