Czech carmaker Skoda has revealed the powertrain details for their next-gen Skoda Kodiaq SUV. Along with this, they have also released a few shots of the upcoming Kodiaq, which can be seen under heavy camo. The India-bound SUVs more information is now out. The global debut is set for sometime later this year.

Exterior And Dimensions
Although the released images do not reveal complete details from under the wraps, there are some big takeaways. Firstly. the front grille that now resembles the ones we have seen on the Kushaq and Slavia, but a bit chunkier than those.

There is a radar visible on the bumper that hints at ADAS inclusivity as well. The headlights are now matrix-type split design units. Moving to the sides, the glass area has been reworked that seems to be converging toward the rear. Talking about the rear, it will get new LED tail lamps and a new rear facia is likely as well.
It measures 4,758mm in length 61mm and 59mm longer than before compared to the 5-seat and 7-seat versions, respectively. Other dimensions remain the same 1,864mm width, 1,657mm height, and a wheelbase of 2,791mm. The 5-seat version will have a boot space of 910 liters whereas the 7-seat versions boot space will dwindle between 340-845 liters.
Interior
Although the interior images are not yet out, Skoda says that it will be a completely redesigned cabin. A big 12.9-inch touchscreen, the virtual cockpit will feature a large, 10.25-inch, all-digital MID, and the heads-up display will be there as well. Furthermore, other quirky elements like door edge protectors and the umbrella holder in the drivers door will be carried over.
Next-Gen Skoda Kodiaq Powertrain Details
The second-gen Kodiaq will offer a diverse set of engine options. Under the hood will be a mild-hybrid 1.5 TSI petrol engine mated to a 7-speed DCT making 150bhp as standard. A bigger 2.0-liter TSI with AWD and DSG producing 200bhp is another option. The 2.0-liter TDI unit that makes 150bhp in FWD and 190bhp in the AWD version will be carried forward as well. But that's not all.
On top of this, a plug-in hybrid mill is coming as well. The Kodiaq will now get a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a 150hp, 1.5-liter TSI engine paired with a 25.7kWh battery. Combined, it will produce 204hp and will be mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The plug-in hybrid, which will be called the Kodiaq iV, will offer more than 100km in electric range, as per Skoda.
VERDICT- The next-gen Kodiaq will go head-on with the likes of Jeep Meridian, Volkswagen Tiguan, Toyota Fortuner, and the MG Gloster. Skoda India currently sells the first-gen Kodiaq between Rs 37.99 lakh and Rs 41.39 lakh (ex-showroom) mark.
