Skoda and VW group recently revealed the entry of another sedan, Slavia that is about to hit the markets by March 2022. The sedan is the second product in the companys 2.0 project. In mid of 2021, Skoda and VW introduced compact SUVs to the Indian market, Kushaq and Taigun. Both of them carry the same specifications but differ in looks and features.
The Czech carmaker is now all set to launch the Slavia in March 2022. The sedan will replace the known Rapid from the market and will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and Honda City. Slavia is an updated sedan that offers bigger dimensions and enhanced features as compared to the ones mentioned above.
The new Slavia measures 4541 mm in length, 1752 mm in width, and 1487 mm in height. On comparing it to the existing Rapid, Slavia is 53 mm wider, 12 mm longer and 21 mm taller. Skoda Slavia has a wheelbase of 2651 mm which means that the sedan will have a spacious cabin. Slavia is also built on the same MQB AO IN platform that is used in Kushaq and Taigun.

The overall design of the sedan looks like a smaller version of Octavia. The sedan upfront comes equipped with a piano black butterfly grille with chrome all over it. It gets a newly designed headlamp unit that is integrated with LED Daytime Running Lights and projector headlamps. The front fender gets a Skoda badging which makes the side profile of the sedan look simple and stronger.
Those character lines that run from the front fender to the rear end look quite bold. The sedan from the rear looks quite simple. It comes with L-shaped LED tail lamps and a big Skoda badging at the centre of the boot lid. A chrome line at the bottom end of the rear bumper is also seen.
Glancing at the interior of the sedan, it looks quite unique and modern with a dual-tone colour scheme. It comes with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is compatible with smartphone connectivity, 8-inch all-new digital cockpit, two-spoke steering wheel with steering mounted controls in chrome. It also gets a sunroof and ambient lighting for the sheer pleasure of driving. The infotainment system is also the same as that of the Skoda Kushaq.

Skoda is trusted for its safety. Slavia will offer a set of six airbags, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, HHC, ABS with EBD, TCS, Disc brake wiping, MSR, ASR, Electronic differential locking system with XDS and XDS+, three-point seat belts for rear passengers, and multi-collision braking system.
The sedan will be available with two engine choices. The 1.0-litre TSI engine will be capable of churning out 113hp of maximum power and 178 Nm of peak torque however the 1.5-litre TSI engine will be capable of producing 148hp of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque. It will be available with six-speed manual, automatic and DSG transmissions. The company has already opened up the bookings window where the sedan can be booked by paying just Rs 11,000 only which is refundable.
