Skoda Kylaq
Launched with a starting price of Rs 7.89 lakh, and the top model costing Rs 14.40 lakh ex-showroom, this bad boy has secured a 5-star safety rating. Out of a total score of 32.00 for Adult Occupant Protection, the Kylaq scored 30.88. In the second parameter of the crash test, Child Occupant Protection (COP), it scored 45.00 out of 49.00.
If we compare it with the Tata Nexon in the Bharat NCAP crash test, the Nexon scored 29.41 out of 32.00 for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), and 43.83 out of 49.00 for Child Occupant Protection. So, it's clear to say that the Kylaq has dethroned the safety king Nexon and set a new standard for safe cars in the sub-4 meter segment.
It shares the MQB-AO-IN platform with all the cars built for India by the Skoda-Volkswagen group, and all of them have earned 5 stars in crash tests. However, none of them received this rating from Bharat NCAP; it was only given by Global NCAP, making this the first model to achieve it.
The Kylaq is powered by a 1.0L TSI petrol engine that produces 115 PS and 178 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. 6 airbags, ABS with EBD is standard across all variants and the top of the line model gets 25 active and passive saftey features.
Now that it is confirmed that this car is safe, want to know if it is good for your family? Find out.

Verdict
Skoda Kylaq just can't stop impressing us. Once again, it has proven itself and given us one more reason to love it. Beating the Nexon isn't child's play, as that car set new standards of safety in the country and was the king of its segment for years. Whether the Kodiaq will beat the Nexon in sales is a different story, but for sure, in terms of specifications, its portfolio is getting bigger and better.
